San Francisco Public Library has been chosen as Library of the Year - the most prestigious library award in the country - for profoundly demonstrating service to the community, for creativity and innovation in developing specific community programs and for leadership that is emulated by other libraries.
SFPL is noted for active promotion of San Francisco’s values of inclusion, diversity and equality and for our ability to create programs and policies to support those democratic values.
"This library has real energy," says author Dave Eggers. "They move quickly on initiatives and they say 'yes.' ... SFPL is nimble, creative and always inclined to find a way to make things happen."
